NATURAL VINES MAKE NATURAL WINES

Mia’a Secret Vineyard, Dry Creek Valley AVA

WE DON’T SPRAY the vineyard with things that kill. Not when the soil is alive with microbes that feed the vines and shape the flavor of every grape. Instead, we farm like we’re in a long-term relationship with the land—focused on deep roots, not quick yields. Predatory insects? Let them do their job. Handwork in the rows? Always. It’s slower, yes. But it means the fruit that comes into the cellar is clean, balanced, and honest—ready to become wine without needing to be disguised.

since 2002

IN THE CELLAR, it starts with cleaning. Not just tidy—but the kind of clean that signals something sacred is about to happen. We don’t force fermentation. We make space for it. The grapes already know what to do—we’re just here to guide, to listen, to feel. We taste. We plunge our hands into the bins. Sometimes our feet. We sweat. We watch. The work is physical, yes, but it’s also emotional. Fermentations have moods. So do we. Every harvest feels like a reset—messy, magical, grounding. It reminds us why we do this at all.

Ageing in oak

The slow alchemy of aging begins. For another year and more, you taste, doubt, and marvel. Some days, it sings; others, it stumbles. The wine softens, deepens, and finds its balance. You learn patience. You guide it gently, protect it fiercely, until one last choice remains—when to lift it from the barrel and let it stand on its own. Good wine is never an accident.

Our story begins in the vineyards of Dry Creek Valley.

Homefire Vineyard – This is our estate vineyard that we farm using organic farming methods. The vines are from a St Peter’s Church clone - originally grown outside a Cloverdale church in the early 1900s.

Mia’s Secret – 1,200 feet above the valley. You’ll cross a couple streams and a washed out road to get there. This is rich, mountain fruit and dark berry flavors unique to this site.
