Good wine isn’t an accident

We pick grapes and crush them. It takes a year—nurturing the soil, measuring, waiting. Buds unfurl, tendrils reach, berries ripen. You track forecasts, take readings, and when the moment feels right—in the fruit, the climate, and your heart—you pick, hoping hands will be there, hoping the fruit is just enough, not too much.

In the winery, decisions come fast. Fully crushed, half-crushed, or simply destemmed? Fermentation begins, transcending the biochemical as aromas bloom and the crackling juice transforms into wine. You press, then wait.

Ageing in oak

Once in oak barrels, the slow alchemy of aging begins. For another year and more, you taste, doubt, and marvel. Some days, it sings; others, it stumbles. The wine softens, deepens, and finds its balance. You learn patience. You guide it gently, protect it fiercely, until one last choice remains—when to lift it from the barrel and let it stand on its own.

Good wine is never an accident.

growing deliciousness

Our story begins in the vineyards of Dry Creek Valley.

Homefire Vineyard – This is our estate vineyard that we farm using organic-style methods. The Zinfandel vines a St Peter’s Church clone - originally grown outside a Cloverdale church in the early 1900s.

Mia’s Secret – 1,200 feet above the valley. You’ll cross a couple streams and a washed out road to get there. This is rich, mountain fruit and dark berry flavors unique to this site.
